Questions about this tool
Do I need a privacy policy in India?
Yes, if you collect personal data online. The DPDP Act requires a notice that tells people what data you use and why, and how to use their rights.
When do the DPDP Rules apply?
The Rules were notified on 13 November 2025. The main duties, like notice, security, breach reporting and rights, apply from 13 May 2027.
What is the consent notice?
A short notice shown where you collect data, before people agree. The Rules say it must make sense on its own, so it lists the data and purposes again.
Can I get it in Tamil or Hindi?
Yes. The consent notice is available in English, Tamil and Hindi. The DPDP Act lets people read notices in English or a language of the Eighth Schedule.
Is this legal advice?
No. It is a careful template based on the law as checked on 13 October 2026. For complex businesses, ask a lawyer to review it.
